Test Management Toolbox (OGE)

This design optimisation methodology helps users achieve the best possible design while rationalising the number of tests (either digital simulations or real tests) - in order to reduce costs and shorten lead times. For this type of study, Eurodecision uses the Test Management Toolbox (OGE) developed in partnership with Renault1.

The OGE methodology

The OGE methodology and tools were designed to address various needs:

  • modelling the concrete problems of designers. For instance, in theory thicknesses are continuous factors. But in practice they can only match values stated in vendor catalogues, which in turn may depend on the material factor the part.
  • resolving problems of various sizes (from just a few factors to several hundred)
  • taking multi-service or multi-physical factors into account
  • carefully managing the test budget (simulations vs. real tests - i.e. "when to simulate, and when to perform real tests")

The OGE library is built from modular tools corresponding to each step in the methodology: test plans, statistical models, optimisation, etc. Their default behaviour uses generalist strategies suitable for most studies. They are configurable, however, enabling fine tuning by experts.

These tools are designed to address possible changes to the design definition which may evolve over the course of the study (introduction of new factors, a new service, etc.) The configuration of the tools used for one study may easily be transposed to a similar study in order to facilitate implementation.

Eurodecision has carried out numerous design assistance studies for Renault using this methodology.

1 Renault has relied on EURODECISION for several years to develop the Test Management Toolbox (OGE) . Today the two companies are partners for the development, distribution, maintenance and evolution of OGE.
