Product Design Optimisation
Complex systems design is subject to increasingly challenging market constraints, e.g. shorter delays for new product design studies, higher safety and environmental standards, cost reduction etc. In this context, Eurodecision offers services to support designers optimising their products, by using Operational Research based tools and methodologies.
In particular, we apply an optimisation methodology for product design based upon numerical simulations which allows us to find the best possible way to achieve new product requirements. For this type of study, we use a tool box developed in partnership with Renault. As additional R&D work in the development of the toolbox is also undertaken within collaborative research projects (Eurodecision is member of System@tic cluster), we are constantly improving our Product Design Optimisation services.
Some applications include:
- Automotive engineering: research programmes to make lighter vehicles, and optimisation of the assembly workstation by spot welds, for Renault
- Railway engineering: capacity studies, slots design, block signalling system optimisation, track re-engineering
- Electrical wiring harnesses enginnering : control of sizing (LEONI), optimisation of the diversity of a set of product using LP-Diversity (optimisation of diversity of electrical wiring options for LEAR).
